It may not be all sunshine and rainbows if head coach Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers reunite on the Pittsburgh Steelers, as one NFL insider claimed an ex-Green Bay Packers teammate isn't sold on their ability to coexist long term.
According to Go Long's Tyler Dunne, a former Packers teammate who had a front-row seat to Rodgers and McCarthy's issues in Green Bay believes a similar story could be on the horizon in Pittsburgh. In fact, he believes Rodgers and McCarthy will “be at each other's throats and fighting in no time."
“There is a source I would probably describe him as a pro Aaron Rodgers source on that Bleacher Report story I wrote way back when. I reached out to this player again when it looked like Rodgers and McCarthy would be joining forces once again here in Pittsburgh," Dunne said via 93.7 The Fan. "I asked him how it was going to go down and at first he said, 'Cinderella story and Super Bowl champs.' I was shocked and asked if he was serious and he said no. He was kidding around, and predicted they would be at each other's throats and fighting in no time. He saw this up close, so I am sure they will say all the right things if they do rejoin forces here."
Towards the end of their Packers' union, reports began to surface that Rodgers and McCarthy began bumping heads over the changing of play calls, stale offensive gameplans, and a lack of communication, to name a few issues.
While both Rodgers and McCarthy had done nothing but sing each other's praises since they both left Green Bay, one can't help but wonder if the Packers drama could find a way to emerge in the Steel City.
