Former Texas A&M and Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King has signed a UDFA deal with the Carolina Panthers. King aims to make the NFL roster this fall after a successful college career.

Former Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher was well known as a "quarterback whisperer" throughout his career, resulting in Florida State winning a National Title with freshman QB Jameis Winston, but after making his way to College Station before the 2018 season, Fisher's success in developing signal callers dropped off significantly.
Inheriting three-year starter Kellen Mond, life after the steady QB included Haynes King, who had a bright future as a true duel-threat quarterback in Fisher's complex offense, which was marred by injuries and a lack of development, as his skill set was never truly utilized, leading to the Longview (TX) native transferring to Georgia Tech, where he starred over the next three seasons.
From 2023-2025, King passed for 7,907 yards and 55 touchdowns, while his production on the ground was unmatched, averaging at least 142 rushing yards per season, totaling 2,277 yards and 36 rushing scores. If King had been playing under current Texas A&M coach Mike Elko, it's more than likely his career with the Aggies would not have been cut short.
Either way, King is looking to make an NFL roster this fall, and according to Tom Pelissero, King has signed a UDFA deal with the Carolina Panthers, joining former Texas A&M stars Nic Scourton, Demani Richardson, and 4th round selection, cornerback Will Lee. King's professionalism and intriguing skill set could lead to a practice squad opportunity with the Panthers.
