The Denver Broncos have done as well as any team in the last two decades, and perhaps even NFL history, at signing undrafted players.
Following the 2026 NFL Draft, the Broncos brought in 14 more undrafted free agents to complete their roster. Of those players, Texas A&M linebacker Taurean York was chosen by Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report as the player most likely to make the 53-man roster from this year's crop of UDFAs.
Following a run on inside linebackers in the second round, the Broncos were moved to a new path in the draft, if that was indeed their intention in round two. However, the "Mr. Irrelevant" selection of Red Murdock and the signing of York may give the Broncos something to work with that improves the overall depth of what may be their weakest spot heading into the 2026 season.
"The Denver Broncos didn't enter the draft with many glaring needs, but their depth at linebacker was questionable. Denver added some new pieces to the puzzle in the form of seventh-round Buffalo linebackerāand Mr. IrrelevantāRed MurdockĀ and free-agentĀ signingĀ of Texas A&M.

While making a roster as deep as Denver's as an UDFA is a challenge, the talented, if undersized (5'11", 226 lbs), York has the goods to make a strong impression.
In three seasons with the Aggies, York tallied 229 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and seven passes defended. Expect him to push players like Murdock and 2025 UDFA Jordan Turner for a spot on defense and special teams", wrote Knox.
York can be tough up around the line of scrimmage, creating tackles for loss and even pressuring the quarterback. But he will be a two-down linebacker in the NFL who will need to make a mark on special teams to have any chance of making one of the league's most well-rounded rosters.
In three seasons with the Aggies, York had 229 tackles (25.5 for loss) and 6.5 sacks. But he struggles in coverage and the Broncos need their inside linebackers to finally get a grasp on improving in that area this coming season.
Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad are going to be the starters, at least once training camp opens, but much of what happens at this position could hinge on the potential position switch of third-year linebacker Jonah Elliss. Players such as Karene Reid, Jordan Turner and Levelle BaileyĀ ā all undrafted players themselvesĀ ā will provide the competition for York, which will determine how his rookie season goes.
The determining factor there will almost certainly be special teams and how much each of them are able to contribute in that area. However, York is a strong candidate to be placed on the practice squad in order to further develop, at the very least.
