Trey Zuhn, a former Texas A&M offensive lineman, has declared for the 2026 NFL Draft with a remarkable pass protection grade of 96.8. He is projected to be a versatile starter in the NFL, despite some challenges in the run game.
Texas A&M's 2027 recruiting class will continue to make headlines over the next three months, especially if third-year head coach Mike Elko and his staff match the national predictions, as the Aggies are now the favorites to land six five-star prospects in the 2027 cycle, including blue-chip cornerback John Meredith.
However, Elko and his staff will shift their focus to the 2026 NFL Draft, hoping to see 12 to 13 former players selected from Thursday to Saturday, while the program's most reliable offensive lineman since the 2022 season, as Colorado native Trey Zuhn enters the weekend as a potential steal in the later rounds, and could end up being a starter at left tackle, guard, or center.
Logging 3,286 snaps, 1,812 in pass protection and 1,474 as a run blocker, Zuhn earned Pro Football Focus pass protection grades of 67.4 (2022), 77.1 (2023), 80.8 (2024), and a prolific 96.8 last season, allowing just two sacks against Auburn and Miami in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
Among the elite offensive line talent ranked in front of him, Zuhn possesses all the desired traits to have a long NFL career, standing 6'6" and over 320 pounds, and is one of the more athletic blockers in the 2026 draft class. Where Zuhn struggles starts in the run game, needing to avoid leaning into blocks, while he has struggled against long-armed pass rushers, but that's been an issue for most tackles at the next level.
Still, Zuhn earned the second-highest athleticism score (96) at the NFL Combine, and according to PFF, Zuhn's 96.8 pass protection grade is 5.2 points higher than any other offensive lineman in the draft. Wherever Zuhn ends up, I can safely say he'll end up being one of several "steals" that will provide an NFL franchise flexibility in the trenches.
