While Braden Montgomery continues to dominate headlines, heâs far from the only former Texas A&M standout making noise in the minor leagues. Kaeden Kent, one of the most naturally gifted players to come through College Station in recent years, is starting to put everything together in HighâA and the results are loud.
Drafted in the third round of the 2025 MLB Draft by the New York Yankees, Kent was assigned to the Hudson Valley Renegades, where heâs spent the early stages of his pro development. Like most players adjusting to a higher level, the transition wasnât seamless.
Through his first 25 games, Kent posted a .186/.217/.265 slash line, numbers that didnât reflect the underlying talent but did show the typical growing pains of a young hitter learning pro pitching.
That early work is now paying off.
In April, Kent flipped the switch, slashing .326/.402/.488 with 28 hits and 15 RBI, showcasing the advanced bat-to-ball skills and gap power that made him such an intriguing draft pick. And even though May has barely begun, heâs somehow been even better: .429/.500/.667 with a fiveâgame hitting streak thatâs turning heads inside the Yankees organization.
Kent is starting to figure it out and if this trajectory continues, he could follow Montgomery as the next Aggie climbing the minorâleague ladder toward a wellâearned promotion.
