Former Tennessee defensive back William Wright was waived by Denver in the NFL after the Broncosâ rookie minicamp.
The Broncos waived Wright and running back Deuce Vaughn, while signing free agent cornerback Paul Manning and wide receiver Michael Woods II.
Wright played for the Vols from 2020-25. He appeared in 45 games and totaled 28 tackles, two interceptions, three pass deflections, one touchdown and 26 kick return yards.
In 2025, the 6-foot, 198-pound defensive back played in 13 games, including one start. Wrightâs first career start was in the final game of his career during the Music City Bowl versus Illinois. He returned an interception 35 yards against New Mexico State on Nov. 15, 2025.
Wright was named to the Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll four times (2021, 2023-25).
He is from Ensworth School in Nashville, Tennessee. The former Vol also competed in track and field at Ensworth.
