Damion Lee, former guard for the Golden State Warriors, has announced his retirement from the NBA at the age of 33. He played seven seasons and was part of the Warriors' 2022 championship team.

Damion Lee, who helped the Golden State Warriors win the 2022 championship, announced his retirement from the NBA in an Instagram post May 12.
âI appreciate all of my coaches, teammates, athletic trainers, co-workers that Iâve came across in my career,â Lee wrote. âI hope that I was able to make a positive impact on your lives as you have on mine! This game has meant everything to me, so much that I put my body through the wringer over the course of the last 15 yearsâŠbut that time has come to an end.â

Lee played 315 games in seven seasons with the Atlanta Hawks (2017-18), Warriors (2018-22), and Phoenix Suns (2022-23, 2024-25). He averaged 7.8 points per game, 1.3 assists and 0.6 steals in his career.
Lee set career highs in 2019-20 with 12.7 points and 2.7 assists per game while starting 36 of 49 games for the Warriors.
In the 2022 NBA Finals, Lee appeared in four games off the bench against the Boston Celtics and scored nine points. He signed with the Suns a month later, a $2.1 million contract for the 2022-23 season.

In his first season with the Suns, 2022-23, Lee ranked third in the NBA in three-point percentage (.445). But he missed the following season rehabbing a rare double posterior root repair of his meniscus.
Lee made his NBA debut with Atlanta in 2018 and began playing professionally with the Maine Red Claws of the NBA G League in the 2016-17 season.
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Lee began his collegiate career at Drexel University before playing his final season at the University of Louisville, where he was an All-ACC Second Team selection in 2015-16.
Lee is the brother-in-law of Stephen and Seth Curry. He is married to Sydel Curry, the only daughter of former NBA guard Dell Curry.
