Blake Montgomery was one of the many Wisconsin Badgers men's hockey players to have signed an entry-level NHL contract.
Just one week removed from the Badgers' loss to Denver in the National Championship game, Montgomery has already reached an AHL milestone.
Montgomery reported to the Edmonton Oilers AHL affiliate, the Belleville Senators, as he's on an Amateur Tryout Agreement contract through the rest of this season.
With the Senators leading 1-0 in the third period, Montgomery doubled their lead at 2:05. The former Badgers freshman forward found the back of the net for his first AHL goal on April 17.
Head coach Mark Johnson would've loved to have Montgomery around for longer, but the Maryland native proved exactly why his decision to go pro early was a risk worth taking. Of all the Badgers to sign contracts, he's the first to score in the AHL as the 2025-26 season winds down.
