Ryan McDonagh, a former Wisconsin men's hockey star, has reached 200 NHL playoff games, joining an elite group of only 24 players in history. He is now just behind Joe Pavelski, who has 201 playoff appearances.
Longtime NHL veteran Ryan McDonagh recently joined a prestigious club in regard to NHL playoff appearances.
The former Wisconsin men's hockey star appeared in his 200th career NHL playoff game. In NHL history, only 24 players have reached that mark.
Badgers legend Chris Chelios leads the way with 266 all-time games played while Joe Pavelski sits just ahead of McDonagh with his 201 playoff appearances.
McDonagh, who was Minnesota's Mr. Hockey in 2007, played on the Badgers from 2007-10. Back in 2020, the Badgers touted his success as he became the 14th Wisconsin men's hockey alumnus to win the Stanley Cup.
The former No. 12 overall pick won it all with the Tampa Bay Lightning that year. After a brief stint in Nashville, McDonagh returned to the Lightning, where he's now vying to pass Pavelski in the all-time rankings. Seeing as the Lightning and Canadians are tied 2-2, McDonagh, as long as he stays healthy, will indeed make at least two more playoff appearances this season alone.
