Four LSU football players are projected to be selected in the first round of the 2027 NFL Draft, according to a recent mock draft. This would mark the highest number of LSU players taken in the first round since 2020.

The 2026 NFL Draft is in the books, and the media world is already looking ahead to 2027. USA TODAY's Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz published a Way-Too-Early 2027 NFL Mock Draft Saturday night, with four Tigers coming off the board in the first round. If he’s right, it would be the most LSU football players taken in the first round since 2020, which featured five.
LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt was a surprising omission from the mock, given that the Tigers’ star has some of the best odds of winning the Heisman Trophy next season. There’s a chance there’s concern about Leavitt’s foot injury from last season, which has kept him off the practice field in Baton Rouge this spring. If he makes a full recovery, however, no one would be shocked if Leavitt makes it into the first round with ease.
Now, to the Tigers who were actually included:
Left tackle Jordan Seaton is the sixth overall pick, landing in Las Vegas with the Raiders. Somewhat surprisingly, Seaton is the No. 2 tackle off the board, with Texas’ Trevor Goosby going one pick ahead.
There’s a bit of a gap between Seaton and the next Tiger selected, tight end Trey’Dez Green, who went to the Chiefs at pick 21, reuniting him with Green had a breakout 2025 season and is entering 2026 with All-SEC expectations — and an All-American ceiling.
The mock draft includes four LSU players, with left tackle Jordan Seaton being the sixth overall pick.
Sam Leavitt was omitted likely due to concerns about his recovery from a foot injury that kept him off the practice field.
The exact date for the 2027 NFL Draft has not been specified, but it typically occurs in late April.

The third LSU player off the board is linebacker Whit Weeks, who was taken at 29 by the New England Patriots, pairing him with several former Tigers, including Will Campbell, Kayshon Boutte, and Bradyn Swinson. Many expected Weeks to go in this year’s draft, but an injury-filled 2025 brought him back to Baton Rouge for one more season.
The final Tiger in the mock is Ole Miss transfer Princewill Umanmielen at 31, who signed with LSU as the No. 1 edge rusher in the portal this offseason. Umanmielen was a key piece of the Rebels’ fantastic defense this past season, recording the third-most sacks in the SEC (9.0) and the eighth-most tackles for loss (13.0). Many believe he’ll surpass both marks in Blake Baker’s defense this upcoming season, so don’t be surprised if the newly minted Tiger is drafted much earlier when the real 2027 NFL Draft rolls around.
These mock drafts are given the “way-too-early” label for a reason, but having four Tigers taken in the first round shows the sort of season Lane Kiffin and co. might be gearing up for.
