Four-star safety Jarrell Chandler will announce his commitment on May 18, choosing between Clemson, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Miami. His decision is crucial for Clemson's 2027 recruiting class.
Clemson football will not have to wait much longer to find out where it stands with one of the top safeties in the 2027 class.
Four-star safety Jarrell Chandler is set to announce his commitment on May 18 live on the Rivals YouTube channel, according to Hayes Fawcett. Chandler will choose between Tennessee, Clemson, Vanderbilt, and Miami, giving the Tigers a chance to land a blue-chip defensive back against a pretty interesting final group.
Chandler is a 6-foot-3, 210-pound safety and is ranked as a top 95 recruit in the 2027 Rivals 300. That size alone makes him a notable target, because players with that kind of frame in the secondary do not exactly grow on trees. Clemson has continued to push for defensive versatility in the back end, and Chandler fits the mold of a bigger safety who can bring physicality while still giving the defense athletic upside.
The commitment will be one to watch for Clemson fans, especially with Tennessee also sitting in the final group. The Tigers have had plenty of recruiting battles in this region, and Chandlerâs decision could give Clemson a strong defensive win in the 2027 cycle.
Now, the clock is officially ticking toward May 18.
