Erik Spoelstra supports no further penalties for LaMelo Ball after flagrant foul.
Trevor Lawrence had a standout 2025 season, throwing over 4,000 yards and 29 touchdowns, positioning him as an MVP candidate. Nick Wright believes with improved consistency and support, Lawrence can elevate his game further.
A lot of quarterbacks never fully shake early-career expectations, but Trevor Lawrence is starting to settle into what he actually is at the NFL level. The former Clemson standout put together his strongest season in 2025, giving Jacksonville the kind of production it had been waiting on.
In a new system, Lawrence looked more comfortable and more aggressive. He topped 4,000 passing yards, threw a career-best 29 touchdowns, and added a noticeable impact as a runner. Altogether, he accounted for 38 total scores, putting him right in the mix with some of the leagueâs most productive quarterbacks.
That jump showed up in the voting as well. Lawrence cracked the top five in MVP and also drew attention for Comeback Player of the Year after how his 2024 season went. It was a clear step forward, even if there are still areas that can improve.
Nick Wright sees that as the key point. In his view, Lawrence has already proven he can play at a high level, but hasnât consistently stayed there year after year. With better continuity and a stronger group around him, that could change quickly.
Thereâs also a belief that the MVP race could open up a bit. If that happens, Lawrence wonât need a perfect season, just one that finally matches his talent from start to finish.
He heads into 2026 with plenty of production already behind him. Now the focus is simple, stack another season like the last one and see if itâs enough to push him into that top spot.
