We can put a lot of blame on what's gone wrong for the New York Mets throughout the 2026 campaign. Simply put, there's absolutely no excuse for a team with this much talent to lose 11 games in a row at any moment, as they should be one of the better teams in Major League Baseball.
Instead, the Mets have been one of the worst teams in the league to start the year, as the record indicates. The Mets currently have the most losses in the league, tied with the Kansas City Royals for the worst record in baseball at 7-15.
If there's been one positive in all of this, it's that players aren't making excuses. At the end of the day, they need to go out and do their jobs, so it's good to hear guys like Francisco Lindor come out and say that.
“This feeling sucks. It’s not a good feeling,” Lindor said, per SNY. “We’re professionals and we got to find a way out of it. We got to do whatever it takes to end up on top after 27 outs, and sometimes 30 outs. It’s just not a good feeling. But nobody here is hanging their heads. Everybody’s got their heads up high, and they’re fighting for each other.”
Lindor is one of those guys who needs to start doing a better job. If there's a player on this roster who could help save someone like Carlos Mendoza’s job, it’s him, as he’s been one of the best players in baseball for more than a decade now. Unfortunately, it’s been a very below-average stretch for his standards.
Francisco Lindor stated that the team needs to find a way out of their losing streak and emphasized the importance of fighting for each other.
The New York Mets have lost 11 games in a row.
The Mets currently have a record of 7-15, tying them for the worst record in Major League Baseball.
