Freiburg enter their maiden European quarter-final match on Thursday against Spain's Celta Vigo aiming to perform in a similar way than last weekend in the Bundesliga against Bayern Munich.
Freiburg led leaders Bayern 2-0 until the 81st minutes before losing 3-2, with Bayern scoring twice in stoppage time.
Coach Julian Schuster said on Wednesday that the players' performance in the first 70 minutes against Bayern was "the internal benchmark" for the Europa League first leg match against Vigo.
"You can see what the lads have achieved and what they're capable of. They've executed a lot of things really well. And that's what we'll be aiming for tomorrow as well," he said.
Striker Lukas Höler said the Bayern defeat "really hurt" at first but that the full focus was now on Vigo.
"We have shown that we can stand our ground against any opponent here," Höler said.
"I'm absolutely convinced that we can put in another good performance tomorrow. It's a real highlight game. And we want to lay the foundations to progress here at home."
Freiburg will be without midfielder Patrick Osterhage who according to Schuster is set for knee surgery and could miss the rest of the season.
