Fresh Faces On The Forty: Freshman EDGE Brinley Tita

Spring practice in Austin came to an end yesterday and the roster construction went down to the wire. Three additions to the 2026 roster were made yesterday, one of which is a new high school recruit. Brinley Tita is a three-star EDGE prospect out of Summer Creek High School in Humble, Texas. The late addition comes with an interesting story and clear athletic upside.

2025 Stats: 94 tackles, 22 TFLs, 11 sacks, 3 FFs, 1 FR in 14 games

The 6-2, 225lbs pass rusher held a few offers from Division II and III schools but decided to sign with Cisco Junior College. The plan, like many that go to JUCO to start college, was to play there and hopefully earn an offer to a Division I school next year. Well, LaAllan Clark and Steve Sarkisian expedited that process and he’ll join the Longhorns in the summer.

As for why Tita didn’t have more interest out of high school, his role could have something to do with it. He played on the interior of the defensive line more than as a pass rusher, where he likely fits going forward. The district champion shot putter brings elite explosiveness to the table that is intriguing if given the time to develop.

I wouldn’t expect Tita to be much more than a depth piece for his first two years in Austin. That being said, there is a clear ability here that could make him a dangerous player in time. Given the open roster spots, this is someone well worth taking a shot on. On top of that, I’d imagine he’s showing up ready to get to work for the only Division I team that took interest in him.
