Nebraska football's off-season has been relatively quiet, with minimal news. Recent discussions involve comments from Jason Peter and reactions to a tweet from a high school quarterback recruit.

Itâs the off-season so do not take this âcriticismâ too seriously.
I have been enjoying this off-season of Nebraska football. The football team continues to put in the work and we are not hearing anything about it.
In fact, lately the two biggest stories regarding Nebraska football surround comments made by Jason Peter on 93.7, which I have no problem with, and the comments from the guys at Unsportsmanlike Conduct on 1620 the Zone about a tweet from a high school quarterback recruit, which says more about themselves than anything.
It has been quiet around Nebraska football and in the words of Billy Beane (played by Brad Pitt) from Moneyball -âthatâs what losing sounds like.â
Then my off-season nirvana was rudely interrupted by some quotes from Anthony Colandrea, who is penned in as Nebraskaâs starting quarterback for 2026. In an interview with On3âs Pete Nakos, Colandrea had the following thing to say regarding his expectations for 2026:
âExpectations at Nebraska are to win,â Anthony Colandrea said. âLike, youâre not here to just not win a national championship. Iâm not coming here to just win eight or nine games. I want to win a national championship; I want to go to the playoffs. I have high expectations, and we have high expectations as a team.
Jason Peter recently shared his thoughts on Nebraska football during an appearance on 93.7, although specific details of his comments were not disclosed.
The comments regarding the tweet from the high school quarterback recruit were discussed by the hosts of Unsportsmanlike Conduct on 1620 the Zone, reflecting more on their perspectives than on the recruit.
Nebraska football is reportedly putting in significant work during the off-season, with no major controversies or issues arising.
The head coach of Nebraska football is Matt Rhule, who has been leading the team since the 2025 season.

I actually love it that he believes in what he said. I think he truly believes in himself and I suggest reading the rest of the article. He has a chip on his shoulder and wants to prove people wrong.
What I do not love is that he OBVIOUSLY is not aware that Nebraska has been winning the Off-Season National Championship every single off-season for a decade.
But looking at the schedule this upcoming season, if Nebraska finds a way to win âeight or nine gamesâ then Nebraska fans should definitely celebrate. Eight or nine wins next season would probably be equivalent to 10 or 11 wins with the 2025 schedule.
Regardless, lets keep the chatter down. Lets win in October and November. Iâm tired of winning in May.
