As a result of his strong performance, Wes Mendes has been named the ACC Pitcher of the Week by the conference. This was an exceptional week for him, with an undefeated record on the mound and taking down an ACC foe in Pittsburgh.
He allowed just five hits with no walks and seven strikeouts on 105 pitches. Mendes threw a complete game, the first by a Florida State player since 2018. In addition, he lowered his season ERA to 2.25.
This is Mendes' second ACC Pitcher of the Week award, with him winning the honor on March 30 as well. He is 8-3 on the season and has struckout 93 batters in 72.0 innings pitched, allowing 48 hits and walking 21 batters.
Florida State continues its season when it welcomes the Jacksonville Dolphins for a one-game match in Tallahassee. Fans can catch the game on the ACC Network Extra on Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET.
