Florida State men's basketball has landed a commitment from versatile Italian forward Elisee Assui, first reported by DraftExpress.
The 20-year-old most recently played professionally for Pallacanestro Varese in Italy's LBA Serie A, and brings a wealth of international experience to Tallahassee. He was previously committed to George Washington.
He averaged 3.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game last season. He had a season high of 12 points and nine rebounds in a win over Acqua S.Bernardo Cantù. The 6-foot-3 Assui averaged 13.4 points and 2 assists for Italy in Euro U20 play.
With the departure of forward Thomas Bassong in the transfer portal, the Seminoles had a need for a quality defender, something the program feels Assui can be. He joins Cincinnati forward Shon Abaev, UNC-Ashville guard Kam Taylor, Missouri guard Anthony Robinson II, and Colorado forward Sebastian Rancik in transferring to the program.
