Gasperini and Ranieri wait for Friedkin’s decision after new tense meetings
Gian Piero Gasperini has reportedly received support from Roma owners in recent days, but the coach’s future at the club remains uncertain following a sudden back-and-forth with Senior Advisor Claudio Ranieri last week.
Tension grows at Roma with multiple sources claiming that either Gasperini or Ranieri will leave the club at the end of the season.
Ranieri hit back at criticism from Gasperini last week, before a match against Pisa, as the coach had previously complained about the club’s transfer activity and the management of some injured players.
According to Gazzetta, Ranieri’s public response to Gasperini was followed by a tense meeting in Trigoria earlier this week, which even involved sporting director Frederic Massara.
The Pink Paper claims that Ranieri even considered resignation following the latest fallout, while Gasperini had a conference call with the club owners.

Dan and Ryan Friedkin, the Roma owners, find themselves in a limbo now, given that they see Ranieri as a central part of their project, but also appreciate what Gasperini has done on the pitch this season.
Nevertheless, they’ll have to make a firm decision on whether to continue with Gasp or Ranieri in 2026-27, since their relationship seems irreparable.
Gasperini's future is uncertain as he has received support from the owners, but tensions with Ranieri suggest one of them may leave the club.
Tension arose after Gasperini criticized the club's transfer activity and management of injured players, leading to a back-and-forth with Ranieri.
Friedkin is expected to decide between retaining Gasperini or Ranieri at the end of the season, following recent tense meetings.

According to Gazzetta, Gasperini is even unhappy that some of the closest collaborators of Ranieri have received a contract extension without his approval, while Ed Shipley, the Friedkins’ right-hand man in Rome, had previously filed reports about Gasperini’s inappropriate behaviour on some occasions.
Roma hired Gasperini last summer, and the Italian tactician’s contract runs until 2028.
