Genius player will replace Andy Robertson at Liverpool

is coming to the end of his time at Liverpool and the Reds have the perfect player lined-up to replace him.

It's a sad era, the Scotsman follows Mo Salah's path in leaving Anfield for pastures new this summer.

Robertson’s future was basically laid out by how the club handled January.

Liverpool were clearly willing to let him go to Tottenham, which said about how much faith they had in him.

The only reason the move didn’t go through was down to injuries stacking up and the fact they couldn’t get Kostas Tsimikas back fit in time, so they ended up keeping Robertson by necessity more than anything.

If they truly saw him as part of the future, they wouldn’t have even entertained the idea of selling him. Now, it has become official that Robertson won't be renewing his deal.

He won’t be short of options this summer. A player with his experience and quality will have clubs lining up, and honestly, he can probably aim higher than Spurs as things stand.

Atlético Madrid have been mentioned before, and there’s always the possibility of a return to Celtic.

From Liverpool’s point of view, though, replacing him won’t be straightforward, especially when Tsimikas doesn’t seem like a long-term solution either.

If Tsimikas goes, Liverpool will have just one left-back remaining in Milos Kerkez. Someone will need to come in and replace Robertson as a back-up.

To do this, Liverpool could enter the market and the perfect player is available and ready to move clubs, and he's familiar with the Reds.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed earlier this week that Williams have a number of suitors from the Premier League and that he could leave Forest this summer.

And Liverpool should and likely will be one of the teams pursuing a move for him.

Why? Well, because he is homegrown, he plays as a left-back but can also play as a right-back and all of these things make him a genius option.

Right now, given the lack of club-trained players at the club, and the prospect of Curtis Jones also moving on, Williams just feels like the perfect solution.

He is Premier League proven, versatile and someone whose playing style very much suits what Liverpool need right now.

Williams is a player who can consistently put crosses into the box. This season he ranks fifth for crosses into the penalty area (3.31 per 90 minutes).

Jurgen Klopp has previously praised his left foot as being 'incredible' and he showcased that recently, registering two assists for Forest against Tottenham in a crunch tie.

Williams is also an excellent defender.

Among full-backs in the Premier League, he has averaged the third most successful defensive actions (9.81 per 90 minutes) and the fifth most interceptions (4.76 per 90 minutes).

Williams is simply brilliant in his reading of the game and very consistently wins his duels. Among defenders in the league, no one has won more ground duels than the Welshman (149).

Based on the numbers, the fact that he is homegrown, and that he can play right and left-back, which is an area where Liverpool want to strengthen, Williams just feels like a the player who will replace Robertson and it will be a genius move.
