Eaglesā Uar Bernard gamble has become a national talking point
Uar Bernard's Draft Story Captivates Fans and Analysts Alike
George Pickens has issued the Dallas Cowboys an ultimatum for a long-term contract or a trade. The Cowboys have placed a franchise tag on him but are not currently negotiating a long-term deal.
Now that the 2026 NFL Draft is over, the Dallas Cowboys can turn their attention to other areas. In their case, that may mean figuring out what to do with George Pickens. The team has placed the franchise tag on their other Pro Bowl wide receiver, but despite previous reports, the 25-year-old has yet to sign it.
That means anything can still happen, from the Cowboys pulling the $27.2 million franchise tag, re-signing him to a long-term contract, or possibly even a trade. If it were up to Pickens, heād prefer either a long-term contract or even a trade from Dallas, rather than play under the one-year franchise tag.
According to ESPNās Adam Schefter, Pickens has now told the Cowboys that he either āwants a long-term contract, or he would like a trade.ā
Schefter adds that Pickensā agent has even tried to go to other teams to gauge their trade interest in the star receiver, but ānothing materialized.ā Meanwhile, the Cowboys remain āadamantā that they wonāt be trading Pickens despite having no intentions of signing him to a long-term deal this offseason.
This feels like the Micah Parsons situation developing all over again in Dallas. According to Schefter, Pickens is āmore tradeable than Parsonsā because the Cowboys are unwilling to negotiate a long-term contract with the receiver right now.
Now that the NFL Draft is over, perhaps teams will circle back around to the potential availability of Pickens. Will anyone step up with an offer too good to refuse?
