With Georgia baseball’s first SEC regular season title since 2008 wrapped up, the Bulldogs are now playing for NCAA Tournament seeding.
The No. 4 Bulldogs (41-11, 21-6 SEC) know they will be the top seed in the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala. next week.
The NCAA Tournament field of 64 will be announced on Monday May 25.
Barring getting swept in the final SEC series at No. 6 Auburn and bounced in their first game of the SEC Tournament, the Bulldogs may have already wrapped up a top 8 national seed.
That would keep them at home for the NCAA Regionals and, should they win, the Super Regionals.
Georgia was a top 8 national seed each of the last two seasons and is in line for that again even with an RPI of No. 14.
“Yeah, I think we should,” coach Wes Johnson said after Georgia clinched the SEC on Saturday night. “You win this league and you get 20 wins in this league, I don’t know how they can keep you out.”
