Georgia finds new director of college scouting

Georgia Bulldogs have appointed Lynn Davenport as their new Director of College Scouting, previously serving in the same role at Miami (Ohio). Davenport has experience in scouting and helped Miami achieve a 7-7 record and an Arizona Bowl appearance in 2025.
The Georgia Bulldogs found their new Director of College Scouting from the Mid-American Conference (MAC). They're hiring Miami (Ohio) director of scouting Lynn Davenport, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.
Davenport had been in his role as director of scouting with the Miami RedHawks since April 2025. His role could be very similar to that of a Director of Pro Scouting in the NFL.
During the 2025 season, Davenport helped Miami go 7-7 and earn an appearance in the Arizona Bowl, where Miami lost to Fresno State. Miami also made the MAC championship game where they lost to Western Michigan.
He's quickly moving through the front office ranks at a young age. Before his time with the RedHawks, Davenport interned in Football Relations with the Buffalo Bills (2024-25).
He helped the Cincinnati Bearcats' recruiting/scouting team while pursuing a degree in sports administration at Cincinnati (2018-22). During his time with the staff, the Bearcats went 55-11, including going 33-5 in the American Conference. They were ranked in the top 10 of the CFP poll twice in Davenport's tenure, and they made the CFP in 2021, losing to the Alabama Crimson Tide.
