Georgia and Florida State will play a neutral site game in 2028 after canceling their home-and-home series. The location will be chosen from seven potential cities, including Miami and Atlanta.
After canceling their upcoming home-and-home series last week, it seems Georgia and Florida State will meet on the gridiron, after all.
The schools said at the time that they were working to schedule a single neutral site contest in replacement, and on Tuesday, FSU athletics director Michael Alford confirmed that will be the case, per On3's Brett McMurphy. Alford said the Seminoles and Bulldogs will square off in 2028 at a neutral location that is yet to be determined.
Per Alford, the destination is down to seven cities: Atlanta, Charlotte, Miami, Nashville, New Orleans, Orlando and Tampa. If it were held in Miami, it would be a true rematch of the last meeting between the two programs, in which UGA dominated a depleted Florida State squad in the 2023 Orange Bowl.
This will be just the 13th all-time matchup between Florida State and Georgia. Before 2023, the last meeting came in the Sugar Bowl following the 2002 season.
The Seminoles and Bulldogs haven't faced off in a regular-season game since a meeting in Tallahassee in 1965.
