Georgia football gets good news on injured star cornerback

The Georgia Bulldogs are expected to return star cornerback Ellis Robinson sooner than many expected. Robinson missed the spring game due to an ankle and knee injury. He is expected to be ready to return well in advance of Georgia's fall camp.

"Ellis (Robinson) had an ankle sprain and an MCL sprain in practice and he'll be back rolling here in a week or two,ready to go," Georgia coach Kirby Smart said after G-Day. "He just wasn't able to go today."

Robinson's return timeline is good news for the Georgia defense. The Bulldogs also missed projected starting outside cornerback Demello Jones (hamstring) in the spring game.

Robinson played a large role in Georgia's SEC championship win during the 2025 college football season. The former five-star recruit is expected to continue to make strides in his third season at Georgia.

With both Jones and Robinson out, Georgia relied on USC transfer Braylon Conley and Jontae Gilbert at cornerback. The black team (first-string defense) did a solid job of limiting the red team (first-string offense) on G-Day, especially at the start of the game. The black team did not have any interceptions, but held the red team (Gunner Stockton sat out the second half) to less than a 50% completion percentage.
