Georgia WR Zachariah Branch set a school record for receptions in a season and is projected to be a first- or second-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft. ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. compares him to Pro Bowler Zay Flowers due to their similar playing styles and performance metrics.
Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Zachariah Branch set the UGA school record for receptions in a season during his lone year at Georgia. Branch was Georgia's top receiver, by a significant margin, in 2025 and helped the Bulldogs win an SEC championship after spending the first two years of his college career with the USC Trojans.
Branch is widely projected to be a first- or second-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft. He's a shifty receiver that accumulated a ton of yardage after the catch during his time at Georgia.
ESPN NFL draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. compares Branch to Baltimore Ravens two-time Pro Bowl receiver Zay Flowers. The comparison is a positive one for Branch, since Flowers has made the Pro Bowl and topped 1,000 receiving yards in two of his three seasons in the NFL.
Flowers was a first-round pick (the No. 22 selection) in the 2023 NFL draft. He played college football at Boston College, so he was a bit more under-the-radar than Branch. The two players have a lot of similarities. Both players are supremely quick, elite after the catch and smaller in size.
Zachariah Branch #1 of the Georgia Bulldogs
Kiper Jr. emphasizes that Flowers and Branch's similarities go beyond size (both players are around 5-foot-9, 180-pounds).
"Much like Flowers, Branch is lightning quick and near impossible to contain once he gets into open space, displaying explosive burst and incredible acceleration," Kiper Jr. wrote. "The Georgia receiver has that same ability to take a quick-game pass on a slant or screen and create a chunk play after the catch. I'm a big fan of Branch, and I think he could go on Day 1, just as Flowers did in 2023."
Kiper Jr. thinks Branch could be a first-round pick. A lot of that will be determined by how much NFL teams value Branch, who just moves different.
