During his time with the Oregon Ducks, Gernorris Wilson has largely been known for his pair of touchdown catches and ensuing celebrations, quickly becoming a fan favorite. But the offensive lineman hasn't otherwise seen much time on the field, serving as a depth piece and an occasional sixth lineman in jumbo packages.
Entering his redshirt junior campaign, the goal for Wilson is to now make an impact as Oregon's starting right tackle — though he won't be handed the job, as he'll have to stave off multiple teammates while he's still battling back from a foot injury that he suffered in his lone start last season against the Iowa Hawkeyes.
"G-Baby's been attacking, attacking and attacking rehab like a madman," Oregon offensive line coach A'lique Terry told reporters on Thursday. "He's itching right now. I love to see the focus and intent he has, because usually when guys are battling injury, they start to float away a little bit. He's been locked in. He's been in the back helping out young Ziyarre. He's been locked in next to Poncho, communicating and talking those things."
Wilson performed admirably well while filling in for the injured Alex Harkey, helping spur a Ducks road victory with a field goal on the final drive. The Florida native enters as the favorite to come away as the starting right tackle this fall and he's doing everything in his power to make that happen despite the injury that currently has him sidelined.
"I know he wants to continue at the level he left off at, like for his first career start to be at Iowa, to be an away game, to be able to play tackle and get some of those better Big 10 rushers and have a solid first outing, I know he's he wants to build that confidence," Terry said. "So I know he's itching right now, but he's been doing a phenomenal job with the rehab, phenomenal job and making sure he's with Chief, making sure he's doing that training stuff, and is doing extra so he can put himself in position that when he's back out there, he can keep the ball rolling like how he was when he when he was out there versus Iowa.”

The Hawkeyes trio of Ethan Hurkett (8 sacks), Max Llewelyn (6.5) and Aaron Graves (5) gave Iowa one of the more stout pass rush units in the Big Ten — certainly not an easy task for Wilson in his first start of the season. But Ducks quarterback Dante Moore wasn't sacked one time, while Oregon's rushing attack totaled 261 yards on 7.3 yards per carry.
Overall, it was a dominant effort for the eventual Joe Moore Award finalists along the offensive line for the Ducks, with Wilson having a huge hand. Though he suffered a season-ending injury that he's still recovering from, it appears, per Terry's words, that he's still taking that momentum with him as he prepares for the 2026 campaign.
