It looks like Los Angeles Lakers fans can ignore previous and future rumors about the team making a trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
A few weeks ago, the Lakers were looking like a dark-horse team in the Western Conference bracket of the NBA Playoffs. Unfortunately, significant injuries to both Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves have completely dashed their hopes of making a run in this yearâs postseason.
While they will hope LeBron James can lead them to a quarterfinals upset of the Houston Rockets, the Lakersâ front office must begin their pivot to more tinkering with the roster they are building around Doncic. There have been rumblings that the team could engage in trade talks about Milwaukee Bucks legend Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Although they were not involved in trade talks before the deadline in February, they are expected to have more intriguing draft assets available to offer the Bucks. Yet, there may be a key problem. The 10-time All-Star isnât a fan of Los Angeles.
The Bucks great was the guest on the debut episode of the podcast hosted by 15-year NBA veteran Goran Dragic. During the chat, Dragic asked Antetokounmpo where he would rather go on vacation, Miami or Los Angeles. And the two-time NBA MVP had a surprising opinion of Lala Land.
Yes, Giannis Antetokounmpo has ended speculation about a trade to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The injuries to Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves have significantly reduced the Lakers' hopes of a successful playoff run this year.
The Lakers' front office is expected to focus on adjusting their roster around Luka Doncic as they move forward.

âI think LA is superficial. I donât like LA,â Antetokounmpo said.
Many believe the nine-time All-NBA honoree will be able to choose where he goes in a potential trade, and that is why the New York Knicks have been seen as a favorite. Since he is on record with his appreciation for the city. If he is not a fan of Los Angeles, it wouldnât make any sense for him to okay a trade to the Lakers.
Meaning, the dreams of some fans of a potential combo of Doncic and Antetokounmpo are not going to happen this summer, and probably ever.
