Giants 2026 schedule: These are their biggest turning point games

Now that the Giants’ 2026 schedule is out, let’s take a look at their biggest turning point games.

• Week 5 (Oct. 11) at Commanders: The Giants open with two tough primetime showdowns (home against the Cowboys and on the road against the Rams). They could very easily start 0-2. Then they get back-to-back winnable home games against the Titans and Cardinals. So there’s a good chance they head to Washington at 2-2. Which would make John Harbaugh’s first NFC East game with the Giants an important one.

• Week 9 (Nov. 1) at Eagles: Harbaugh’s first matchup with the Eagles comes after a Week 8 bye. Meanwhile, Philadelphia will spend Week 8 playing a Sunday night game in Washington. This is a big-time opportunity for Harbaugh. After that Week 5 game in Washington, he gets a winnable matchup with the Saints at home, followed by a challenging trip to Houston. Let’s say Harbaugh enters the bye at either 4-3 or 3-4. That would make the Week 9 trip to Philadelphia quite pivotal.

• Week 13 (Dec. 6) vs. 49ers: After the Week 9 road game against the Eagles, the Giants host the Commanders and Jaguars, then play at the Colts. After that comes a brutal two-game stretch — home against the 49ers and a trip to Seattle. So this could be a massively important statement game at MetLife Stadium for Harbaugh. Or it might wind up being the continuation of some big-time post-bye week struggles.

• Week 16 (Dec. 28) at Lions: A Monday night matchup, for the Giants’ fourth and final primetime game of 2026. Will they still be in playoff contention at this point? After the Seattle trip, they get a should-win home game against the putrid Browns. Their final two games are in and home against the Eagles. Both tough. Pulling out a win in could be critical for Harbaugh’s playoff hopes. His team will have a slight rest advantage over the Lions. While the Giants play the Browns at home the previous Sunday afternoon, the Lions visit that night.
