Last week, the San Francisco Giants designated an outfielder for assignment after he began the season with a .406 OPS in 35 trips to the plate.
The 28-year-old cleared waivers and elected free agency after San Francisco's decision.
Today, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR reports that the Dominican Republic native is drawing interest from several Major League and Nippon Professional Baseball clubs in Japan.
"Several MLB teams have shown interest in outfielder Jerar Encarnacion," Romero wrote on X. "There are also three NPB teams interested in the 28-year-old. Encarnacion spent time with the San Francisco Giants from 2024 to 2026 and elected free agency on Sunday."
Encarnacion signed with the Giants in 2024 after he enjoyed an incredible hitting stretch during a 26-game stint with the Mexican League's Guerreros de Oaxaca.
The outfielder was designated for assignment due to a disappointing .406 OPS in 35 plate appearances.
Several Major League Baseball teams and Nippon Professional Baseball clubs in Japan are showing interest in the outfielder.
Clearing waivers means no team claimed the player, allowing him to choose free agency, where he can sign with any team.

In just 107 plate appearances, the right-handed hitter slugged 19 home runs with a .366 batting average and 1.428 OPS.
He managed just a .619 OPS with seven home runs across parts of three seasons with the Giants. A hand fracture, an oblique strain, and a hamstring strain limited Encarnacion to just 19 Major League games in 2025.
