It really doesn't make a lot of sense.
You call up the powerful hitting prospect to let him hit, not let him sit.
Eldridge homered in his start on Saturday, too.
But then he came on as a pinch-hitter on Sunday, and notched a walk and a strikeout in two plate appearances.
Yes, Eldridge is scuffling a bit, just 2-for-14, but that's a small sample size, and he's been an incredible hitter at the minor league level.
This is more about the principle of the thing than the results, though. The Giants made Eldridge wait his turn longer than most fans would've wanted. And now that he's in the show, he's still being forced to sit out the action.

Bryce Eldridge has been benched for three of the last four games despite being called up to strengthen the batting lineup.
Eldridge's absence could limit the team's offensive capabilities, especially since he was brought up to add power to the lineup.
The Giants have made questionable lineup decisions by not utilizing Bryce Eldridge in three out of their last four games since his call-up.
