The 2026 NFL Draft is set to kick off next Thursday in Pittsburgh, and it sounds like many teams at the top of the draft order are looking to move down.
According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, and Washington Commanders have all explored trading back.
As for teams that could move, Breer mentions the New Orleans Saints and Dallas Cowboys.
"Count the Cardinals, Titans, Giants, Browns and Commanders among those already looking at trying to drop down in the order to accumulate capital. The problem for those five is finding teams to move up," Breer said.
"So who would trade up to select one of those two? The Saints, who pick eighth, have shown a willingness to get aggressive in the past and have a pass-rush need. Thereâs also Dallas," Breer added.
New Orleans is currently slated to pick eighth, while Dallas sits at 12th overall.
The Saints have a need at pass rusher, and could package picks to move up and select one of the top edge rushers, who are Miami's Rueben Bain and Texas Tech's David Bailey.
Obviously, the Giants and Commanders are unlikely to make a deal with the Cowboys due to the in-division ties. However, Dallas has a ton of valuable picks and is a threat to trade up.
The Cowboys would likely target a defensive player in this scenario, with Bain, Bailey, and Ohio State's Arvell Reese being possible options.
We'll see how much movement we see in Round 1 of the draft next week, but there could be a plethora of trades by the time Day 1 concludes.
