New York Giants GM Joe Schoen denied trade rumors involving defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux and the New Orleans Saints. Thibodeaux, in a contract year, remains with the Giants despite speculation about his future.
New Orleans Saints fans where thrown into a bit of a frenzy when reports came out on trade talks involving New York Giants defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux. The fifth overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft is in a contract year, set to play out the 2026 season on his fifth-year option and earn $14.75 million. But with just eight sacks over the last two years put together, a team like the Saints -- who turned Chase Young's career around -- could be just what he needs.
But it isn't going to happen, at least not imminently. Not according to New York general manager Joe Schoen, who pushed back against Friday's splash report during the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
"Nothing has changed," Schoen said on Friday night. "I wish I could just put anything out in the Twitter-sphere and let people run with it. But no, there is no truth to that. We have not had any conversations today about Kayvon. So that's not true."
Thibodeaux is buried on the depth chart behind Abdul Carter, Brian Burns, and 2026 first round pick Arvell Reese, and it's possible he could be moved if the Giants feel they're getting fair value back. But that hasn't happened yet (or Schoen at least isn't willing to discuss it publicly). Things could change with one phone call. For now, though, it doesn't look like Thibodeaux will be wearing black and gold any time soon.
