The New York Giants have signed veteran quarterback Brandon Allen, who has experience with quarterbacks coach Brian Callahan from their time with the Titans. Allen, a sixth-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, has played for six different teams and will compete with Jaxson Dart and Jameis Winston for a spot in the quarterback room.
The New York Giants added some depth to their quarterback room on Monday – and they did so by signing a veteran NFL talent who has plenty of experience with one of the primary assistant coaches he'll be working with in New York.
On Monday, the Giants signed 10th-year NFL veteran Brandon Allen. Allen was drafted in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Allen is a bit of a journeyman quarterback, playing for six different franchises (Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Rams, Denver Broncos, Cincinnati Bengals, San Francisco 49ers, Tennessee Titans) over the course of his career. Now, he will make his seventh stop with the Giants.
Allen joins the Giants after spending last season with the Titans, which should help give him a bit of an advantage when meshing with his quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator Brian Callahan, who served as the Titans' head coach last season before being fired partway through the year. Now, Allen and Callahan will get the chance to reunite,
Allen has made 19 appearances and 10 starts over the course of his NFL career, and is just 2-8 as a starter. He has passed for 1,882 yards, 11 touchdowns, and nine interceptions in the league. He signed a one-year league minimum contract with the Giants and will join second-year talent Jaxson Dart and veteran Jameis Winston in the quarterback room for the organization.
