New York Giants News
Good morning, New York Giants fans!
Styles and Downs were credited as the leaders of Ohio Stateâs impressive defense, and both have the capability of leading an NFL locker room for the next decade. And like Styles, Downs is considered one of the safest prospects in the draft. Former Alabama coach Nick Saban loved Downs, who started immediately for the Crimson Tide and became the first freshman to lead Alabama in tackles. Our evaluators couldnât stop gushing over Downs.
âHeâs a pro,â the first executive said. âHeâs one of the cleanest prospects, one of the top four or five football players in the draft class. Heâs just a really good player. Youâre hoping you have a chance to take him if youâre in the top 10.â The second exec added: âWe probably donât appreciate him enough in how he impacts the game, commands the defense and allows others to do so many different things with how he plays, the intelligence on top of the instincts. Youâre getting a player in the middle of the field who you have to account for.â
New York Giants: Linebacker. The Giants loom as an unknown with the fifth overall pick, but thereâs a reason why Sonny Styles remains a frequent choice in mock drafts. New York did sign Tremaine Edmunds to a three-year, $36 million contract, but his PFF coverage grade has fallen below 60.0 in each of the last three seasons. Edmundsâ more one-sided play, coupled with Micah McFadden appearing on just 11 snaps in 2025, leaves John Harbaugh seeking more starting options over the middle.
- New York Giants: Francis Mauigoa, Miami, OT. Â Should the Giants draft Jeremiyah Love if heâs available here? Absolutely! Do that if the Titans donât take my advice. If they do, however, itâll be time to make a smart pick. I know, thatâs not as fun. Itâs like getting the chicken bowl at Islands instead of a burger: You might not want to do it, but you should.
New York Giants: LB Sonny Styles, Ohio State. The New Orleans Saints would make for an ideal trade partner as they possess a wealth of Day 3 picks they can package in addition to their No. 8 overall selection. Making this relatively cheap jump up the board could put them in position to get a top-tier wideout such as Carnell TateâStylesâ teammate with the Buckeyes.
While the Giants will still have to hope Styles slips past the Washington Commanders at No. 7 overall, Big Blueâs NFC East rivals are reportedly exploring a trade down of their own and have plenty of other pressing holes to fill. Styles would be more of a luxury for a Commanders team that now employs both Frankie Luvu and Leo Chenal.
While the Giants added several notable players, including tight end Isaiah Likely, cornerback Greg Newsome, punter Jordan Stout, and linebacker Patrick Ricard, these acquisitions balanced out the departures of cornerback CorâDale Flott, tight end Daniel Bellinger, center Austin Schlottmann, and safety Dane Belton.
This potential draft asset stems primarily from the departure of wide receiver WanâDale Robinson, whose loss was not fully offset by the teamâs incoming free-agent signings As a result, Robinsonâs exit stands as the key qualifying loss under the NFLâs compensatory pick formula. The projection highlights the Giantsâ measured approach in free agency after an initial wave of spending.
Bengals left tackle Orlando Brown wouldnât mind seeing his team make a big swing in the trade market. During an appearance on Up & Adams, Brown said that Lawrence âwould make our football team betterâ when asked about the possibility of the Bengals trading for him.
âDexter Lawrence is a baller,â Brown said. âI think heâd be even more of a baller in orange and black. I donât know how that kind of stuff goes necessarily, I donât have all the answers.â
