
The San Francisco Giants recalled former Tennessee outfielder Drew Gilbert from Triple-A Sacramento ahead of their game against the Cincinnati Reds. The Giants are currently in a three-game series, having lost the opener 2-1.
San Francisco (6-11) will continue a three-game series at Cincinnati (10-7) on Wednesday. First pitch between the Giants and Reds is slated for 6:40 p.m. EDT at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Reds won the series opener, 2-1, on Tuesday.
Ahead of Game 2, San Francisco recalled former Tennessee outfielder Drew Gilbert from Triple-A Sacramento. He played for the Vols from 2020-22.
Gilbert appeared in 141 games, including 134 starts, as a batter for Tennessee. He also appeared in 11 contests as a relief pitcher and had a 2-0 record.
Gilbert recorded a .314 batting average, 22 home runs, 140 RBIs and 116 runs with the Vols.
He appeared in 58 games during his final season at Tennessee in 2022, totaling 11 home runs, 70 RBIs, 60 runs, 72 hits, 21 doubles, four triples, 33 walks and four stolen bases.
The former Vol was selected by Houston in the first round (No. 28 overall) of the 2022 MLB draft.
