The San Francisco Giants aren't having a good season by any means. They've seen their offense produce some truly lackluster results, the team as a whole struggles, and a lot of their pitching staff get off to a poor start.
With Patrick Bailey already traded away in a deal with the Cleveland Guardians, it's not looking like much of a surprise that the Giants will be sellers this year.
USA Today's Bob Nightengale shared a rumor from multiple MLB executives that the Giants might be considering a trade of a fan favorite ace, Logan Webb.
"Some executives insist they also would listen to offers for ace Logan Webb," Nightengale reports.
While it's not a surprise that the Giants are viewed as sellers, this rumor on Webb being a possible trade candidate would be a colossal mistake from the Giants if they acted on it.
The Giants are struggling this season and may be looking to sell players, including Logan Webb, to rebuild.
Trading Logan Webb could further weaken the team's pitching staff and alienate fans who view him as a key player.
Logan Webb is a starting pitcher for the Giants known for his strong performances, making him a favorite among fans.

With the Giants' struggles, a few players being dealt would not be a surprise at all. However, when it comes to Webb, he's the kind of player that shouldn't be dealt.
Not only is he a fan favorite, but Webb is a starting pitcher who has elite upside. That's hard to come by, and something teams shouldn't willingly give up on unless they're set to lose them in free agency anyway.
And for the Giants, with Webb, he's under club control for three more years on a very reasonable $90 million deal over five years.
Between Webb's value as a frontline starter, the years of control, and how he's viewed by the fans, there's very little reason to trade Webb right now.
He's also hurt and struggling a bit this season with a 5.06 ERA. Even if they did trade him, the value they'd get in return wouldn't be as much as they would like to receive.
While these anonymous MLB executives are telling Nightengale that they believe the Giants are open to Webb trade offers, a trade involving the fan favorite ace would be a colossal mistake, and one the Giants cannot afford to make.
