Grayson Rodriguez Set To Make Angels Debut Sunday Against Dodgers

Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Grayson Rodriguez is set to make his club debut on Sunday in the series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Angels also activated catcher Logan O’Hoppe ahead of the series opener against the Dodgers on Friday.

Rodriguez’s start on Sunday will be his first in MLB since July 31, 2024 with the Baltimore Orioles.

Rodriguez missed the entire 2025 season with an elbow injury. He underwent right elbow debridement surgery to remove bone spurs in August 2025. Three months later, the Orioles traded Rodriguez to the Angels for outfielder Taylor Ward.

The right-hander made four starts for the Angels during spring training. He posted a 4.97 ERA and 12 strikeouts across 12.2 innings. But Rodriguez ultimately opened the season on the 15-day injured list with shoulder inflammation.

Since then, Rodriguez has made two minor-league rehab starts. In his most recent start on Sunday with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, Rodriguez struck out 11 batters in 4.2 innings. Over both starts, Rodriguez accrued a 2.79 ERA and 18 strikeouts across 9.2 innings.
