
Grimsley High School in North Carolina has released its 2026 football schedule, which mirrors the 2025 schedule with adjusted home and away games. The team aims for a third consecutive state championship despite losing several key players to graduation.
High school football schedules for the 2026 season are coming out one-by-one out of every state around the country and one that is a breeding ground for college prospects is North Carolina, with a number of squads finalizing their fall slates.
When you think of high school football teams that have transformed into powerhouses within their state as of late, you can’t go too far without mentioning the Grimsley Whirlies (NC). The 3-time state champions recently released their 2026 schedule and it’s basically the same schedule from the 2025 but flipped when it comes to home and away dates.
The Whirlies will have to try and pull off the 3-peat after graduating a slew of talented players from last season, including quarterback Faizon Brandon (Tennessee signee), cornerback Kosci Barnes (South Carolina signee) and tight end DJ Howerton (Rutgers signee). Grimley does return 2027 three-star EDGE Andrew Rogers, who is already committed to Virginia Tech.

Grimsley ended the last season with a 15-0 record and as the state’s No. 2 ranked team, according to the final North Carolina 2025 High School Football Massey Rankings. The Whirlies finished as the NCHSAA state champions, defeating Clayton, 24-14, for the Class 7A title.
