Despite having nothing to play for as such, a full-strength Dortmund too the game to their hosts -- Serhou Guirassy and Samuele Inácio brought the best out of Mio Backhaus who had to make a trio of smart saves to deny the visitors in the initial 7 minutes.

Former BVB attacker Justin Njinmah look to make his former side pay with his blistering pace before the interval. Nico Schlotterbeck failed to keep pace with the 25-year-old who would ultimately volley wide, as neither side managed to make a breakthrough.

Similar to the initial exchanges of the first-half, BVB found themselves creating ample chances. Inácio's vision from open play and a Daniel Svensson corner both fell to Guirassy -- the Guinean still failed to get the better of the simply excellent Backhaus.
It seemed it would only be matter of time for the 30-year-old to convert, and that he did on 59 minutes. Ryerson delivered the ball on a plate for the big striker to outmuscle Friedl and head in at the near post. Both sides would ring in the changes thereafter.
Carney Chukwuemeka and Julian Brandt on his last BVB outing featured, while Bremen called upon Samuel Mbangula and Patrice Covic. Parity seemed to be restored late on when Karim Coulibaly converted from close range, but VAR would narrowly rule him offside.
Mbangula forced Kobel into a sharp stop at his near post. Ultimately, the equaliser would never come for the hosts as Karim Adeyemi fed Yan Couto for BVB's second in injury time. The afternoon ended with some farewells for the likes of Leo Bittencourt, as well as Brandt, Süle and Özcan.
