Hamlin High School's powerlifting team excelled at the national championships in Omaha, NE, with Sheyla Palencia Garcia and Abby Loban winning their respective divisions. The team also secured the JV Raw Female Division championship.
Hamlin High School's powerlifting team competed recently in the Powerlifting American High School National Powerlifting Championships in Omaha, NE. Team members include, from left in front, Sheyla Palencia Garcia, Abby Loban, Aramis Cabrera Rodriguez, Jose Mahe and Carlos Corrales; and back coaches Jacob and Timm MacDonnell, Walker Trowbridge and Alex Heitzel. Heitzel finished fifth in the Varsity Raw 120-kilogram division. The rest of the vaulters competed in the JV Raw Division. Palencia Garcia (47-kilogram) and Loban (63-kilogram) each won their divisions; Carralles (53-kilogram), Rodriguez (59-kilogram), and Mahe (105-kilogram) each were second and Trowbridge (74-kilogram) was fourth. Hamlin's girls won the JV Raw Female Division championship.
Sheyla Palencia Garcia won the JV Raw 47-kilogram division and Abby Loban won the JV Raw 63-kilogram division.
