The Haughton Buccaneers won their LHSAA Non-Select Division I playoff opener against Evangel, 3-2, in nine innings. Seth Jorstad excelled on the mound and at the plate, contributing significantly to the victory.
The Haughton Buccaneers went on the road to open the LHSAA Non-Select Division I baseball playoffs Friday and came away 3-2 winners in nine innings.
Seth Jorstad was the workhorse on the mound throwing 6.33 innings while allowing one run with five strikeouts. Brady Bockhaus picked up the win with two relief innings.
Jorstad went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, a triple and the game-winning RBI. CT Woodward picked up two hits with a double and an RBI.
Game two is slated for 11 am. Saturday with game three, if necessary, to follow 30 minutes later.

Ruston 13, New Iberia 3: The Bearcats will look for the Non-Select Division I sweep Saturday at 11 a.m. after dominating the visitors on Friday.
North DeSoto's Luke Delafield heads for home against Captain Shreve Friday night in Stonewall.
Sulphur 6, Northwood 1: Despite hits from Trace Carver, Hagen Ashby, Adam Hemphill, Maddox Bentzler, Landon Martin and Nathan Cervantes, the Falcons (20-15) lost the first game in the LHSAA Non-Select Division 1 matchup. Game two is at noon Saturday.
Many 4, Mamou 3: The Tigers squeaked out a win in their Non-Select Division III contest in Many. They’ll seek a sweep at 10 a.m. Saturday.
