Kaimi Kahalekai had a strong outing for Long Beach State, while Wailele Kane-Yates contributed significantly to Oral Roberts despite a series-ending loss.
BASEBALL
Kuhio Aloy (Baldwin), Arkansas: Enjoyed his first three-hit game since February in a series sweep of Alabama, driving in a run and adding a walk to his three singles. Nolan Souza (Punahou) had two hits and drove in three in the same game, his first time pairing hits this month.
Nuu Contrades (Saint Louis), Arizona State: Hit his ninth and 10th home runs of the season in a series victory over Utah, collecting five hits in the three games before blasting another homer on Monday in a 5-3 loss to Arizona. He is up to 26 career home runs to go with 31 stolen bases. He has hit home runs in successive games three times this year and now has gone deep in three straight games twice in his career. He will have a chance to extend it on Thursday at BYU.
Kaimi Kahalekai (Kamehameha-Maui), Long Beach State: Was stretched out for the longest outing of his career with 5 2/3 innings on 98 pitches in a 10-0 loss to Cal State Fullerton, putting up four scoreless innings after a disastrous start by the team’s starter. He struck out seven batters and it was the former closer’s first time throwing multiple innings this year.
Wailele Kane-Yates (Kauai), Oral Roberts: Launched a home run as one of his six hits in a 2-1 series win over Omaha, driving in five runs and scoring three. He had three hits in the final game, his first time with three in a contest this year, but the Golden Eagles lost to end an 11-game winning streak.
Ty Komoda (Kaiser), Whitworth: Snapped out of a season-long slump with two RBIs in each game of a three-game sweep of Linfield, mashing five hits with home runs in both games of a doubleheader. Nathaniel Kurano (Roosevelt) threw five shutout innings in a 7-4 win over Linfield.
Keoni Painter (Kamehameha-Maui), BYU: Went deep for the second time this season in a 6-1 win over Houston. It was a solo shot in the seventh to help the Cougars sweep a Big 12 series for the first time. It was his only time in the lineup since April 4.
