Mainz 05 were shocked by Bayern Munich’s spectacular 4-3 victory. Having wrapped up the league title last week, the Bavarians overcame a 3 goal deficit to continue their record breaking run this season.
Michael Olise was lethal up front and immediately forced Mainz to hang back. Vincent Kompany brought him on for the second half to overturn the lead amassed by Urs Fischer’s men. Olise had the double effect of suppressing Mainz by forcing them to deploy time and energy to stop him. His presence also meant that Bayern’s chances of scoring increased exponentially. The curling goal scored by Olise in the 73rd minute had a probability of 1%!
Following the defeat to Bayern Munich at home, attacker Nadiem Amiri admitted Olise was the best in the business. “For me, Michael Olise is the best player in the world currently. He just makes the difference,” said Amiri (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
