Following the greatest season in program history, the Michigan Wolverines have ensured us all that the man in charge will remain in Ann Arbor for years to come.
Following a historic 2025-26 campaign that included five total rivalry wins, a Big Ten regular-season championship, a new program record for single-season wins (37), a Final Four banner and a national championship, head coach Dusty May has agreed to a new deal, Athletic Director Warde Manuel said at the team’s national championship celebration on Saturday.
This news comes as little surprise, as May has delivered unprecedented success in his first two years on the job. He’s not only met expectations, but he’s shattered them after winning the national championship. There very well could be a dynasty brewing in Ann Arbor, so keeping May in place puts Michigan in a fantastic place moving forward.
The new contract isn’t just about rewarding May’s success, but it’s also about sustaining that success. As long as May is the head coach, the Wolverines are going to be in a great position to be among the best programs in college basketball on a consistent basis.
With one of the best recruiting classes coming in, as well as the work that will be done via the portal, the Wolverines are in a really good spot heading into the offseason. They’re in an even better spot now that May is locked in for the foreseeable future.
