Officials with the LPGA and the Chevron Championship made news earlier this week when they announced that the prize money payout for the yearâs first womenâs major championship was increasing to $9 million. Thatâs a bump of $1 million from 2025 and an exponential increase of $5.9 million since Chevron started sponsoring the major in 2022.
The winner this week at Memorial Park in Houston will earn $1.35 million. By contrast, Jane Blalock won the inaugural Chevron (then called the Colgate-Dinah Shore Winner's Circle), she made $20,050 from a purse of $110,000 total; thatâs the amount the 17th place finisher will earn this year.
Some more contest: When the event became a major in 1983, Amy Alcott earned won $55,000 for her victory from an overall purse of $400,000.
As for the five LPGA majors, the Chevron still trails the U.S. Women's Open and KPMG Women's PGA Championship, which both boasted overall purses of $12 million in 2025. The AIG Women's Open offered $9.75 million and the Amundi Evian Championship paid $8 million.
Hereâs the prize money payout breakdown for every player who makes the cut this week. Come back after the tournamentâs finish on Sunday and weâll update this with names and individual prize money payouts.
