The injury-ravaged Minnesota Timberwolves completed their first-round upset of the Denver Nuggets on Thursday, as the sixth-seeded Wolves cruised to a 110-98 win on the strength of Jaden McDaniels' 32 points.
Minnesota's six-game series win is even more impressive considering that its star player Anthony Edwards went down in Game 4 with a bone bruise and a hyperextension in his left knee.
While Edwards has avoided a serious injury, his timetable to return will be one of the top storylines in Minnesota's next series against Victor Wembanyama and the second-seeded San Antonio Spurs.
ESPN's Shams Charania has reported that Edwards, the Timberwolves' leading scorer in the regular season, will miss "at minimum" two weeks.

That is a stretch which encompasses the first four games of the Minnesota-San Antonio series.
"(Edwards) has avoided ligament damage, but it's going to be at minimum, my understanding is two weeks," Charania said on ESPN's "Get Up."
Edwards also has been dealing with swelling in his right knee due to patellofemoral pain syndrome -- also known as '"runner's knee." The goal for Minnesota then will be to stretch out the series as long as possible to give their star guard enough time to return and push for a third consecutive Western Conference finals appearance.
Of course, the Timberwolves' depth beyond Edwards and Donte DiVencenzo (out for the season with an Achilles tear) proved itself once more during the Nuggets series. Minnesota held Denver, the league's no.1 offense in the regular season, to under 100 points in three of the six games. And Minny still has plenty of scoring punch in McDaniels, Ayo Dosunmu and Julius Randle.
Either way, the Spurs will be in for a battle against the Wolves in round two.
