Julian Teran led the Royals with five RBIs, contributing significantly to Roy’s 11 hits. Meanwhile, Kearns managed to score three runs in the fifth and seventh innings but couldn’t recover from Roy’s offensive onslaught. Game 2 is scheduled for Saturday.
In Game 1 of the 5A Regionals best-of-3 series, No. 10 Wasatch secured a 6-2 win against No. 23 Timpview. Braxton Faller’s three-run home run in the eighth inning powered Wasatch to victory. Timpview initially took a 1-0 lead in the second inning with a home run by Ty Wester, but Wasatch’s offense gained momentum in the sixth and pulled away in the seventh with four runs.
Skyline rallied late to secure a 4-3 win over Taylorsville in Game 1 of the 5A Regionals best-of-3 series. Trailing 2-1 entering the sixth inning, the visitors scored two runs in the sixth and an additional run in the eighth to edge ahead. Xaidan Butcher went 2 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs, helping secure the victory for Skyline, ranked No. 21.
Roy won the game against Kearns with a final score of 12-6.
