The New York Jets traded up to select Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. with the No. 30 pick in the NFL Draft, completing a strong first round with three standout starters.
The New York Jets traded up and made a third first-round pick in this year's draft, selecting Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr.
Cooper Jr. rounds out a massively successful first round for the Jets, as New York added three standout starters to the fold. New York selected edge rusher David Bailey with the No. 2 overall pick and tight end Kenyon Sadiq at No. 16 overall.
Cooper Jr. will operate out of the slot for the Jets. He, along with Sadiq, will create problems for opponents in the intermediate passing game. Cooper's exceptional route running and run-after-catch ability make him a prime target for new quarterback Geno Smith.
Cooper Jr. was named a second-team All-American. He also earned Second-team All-Big Ten honors. Cooper caught 69 passes for 937 yards and 13 touchdown receptions.
The Indiana product was frequently found making highlight-reel plays last year. Jets fans should be excited to see him in a New York uniform.
Here are some highlights showing what the Jets are getting with their new playmaker:
