Historic: João Cancelo becomes the first to win four of the top 5 leagues
Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 2-0 on Sunday evening to secure the Spanish league for the second straight season. As a result, João Cancelo became the first player ever to win four titles in Europe's 'big 5' leagues.
Cancelo's first title in one of the world's top leagues came in 2018/19. That season, the full-back was at Juventus, alongside international teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, and won Serie A with an 11-point lead over second place (Napoli).
The following season, Cancelo moved Manchester City, but had to wait until his second year in England before lifting the Premier League title.
After a period of tension with City boss Pep Guardiola, Cancelo was loaned to Bayern München for the second half of 2022/23 campaign. The Bavarians clinched the title on the final matchday, under Thomas Tuchel to add a third 'big 5' title to Cancelo's collection.
João Cancelo has won titles in Serie A, the Premier League, La Liga, and the Bundesliga.
Cancelo achieved this milestone by winning the Spanish league with Barcelona, following previous titles with Juventus, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich.
